Swimming Pool Signs --- Information and Precaution

Have you seen so many signs around or within the vicinity of a public swimming pool?  Have you really taken a few minutes to read or understand what those swimming pool signs mean, or you just haven’t bothered about it?  Well, it’s a fact that signs are placed as a warning or information or cautionary measures for everybody --- like in roads, buildings, schools, etc. --- the same thing with swimming pool signs.  Unfortunately, only a few people or swimmers bother to pay attention to these things.  One should remember that accident drowning or swimming injuries are often caused because of not heeding these swimming pool signs.  Don’t you think it’s time to look, read, understand, and follow it?  Who knows, it may just save your life or your friend’s life.

You would notice that these swimming pool signs are located or posted in certain areas of the pool ground, and this is placed there purposely so swimmers can check on it from time to time or to warn them before they do any unsafe moves or things.  For example, a symbol or a sign saying “No Diving” posted in the shallow part of the pool, or signs showing the “depth” of the pool to warn people of how deep that particular area is.

There are also information boards, which advise people of some dos and don’ts for health and safety reasons for both the swimmer and the other people in the pool.  For example, it states that those people with open wounds or skin diseases and allergies should not dip in the water, it’s because there are chemicals mixed in the pool water that may infect the person’s rashes or it may transmit to another person.  There may also be boards saying “No Lifeguard on Duty”, which means that adults have to supervise their kids in or out of the pool.  Other risk-related advice and warnings are placed all-over the pool area, especially in the critical zones or parts of the pool.

In order to have a fun, enjoyable, and safe swim, you must take these swimming pool signs seriously or else, you will only endanger yourself and the people around you.  Would you rather go against those posted swimming pool signs, just to have an extremist or exhibitionist excitement?  Do not risk your health or other people’s safety because you just want to have a moment’s fun, take caution and heed warning --- it’s actually for your own good.
