The Role of A Swimming Pool Supervisor

Swimming pools need to have someone that oversees its use, operation and maintenance.  Such would be the responsibility of a swimming pool supervisor.  His job ensures that everything goes well within the premises including the safety of those who use it and the orderly use of the swimming pools.

A swimming pool supervisor should generally preferably have previous experience in such operations.  He must also know life saving and first aid work.  These will be useful in carrying out his job effectively.  Not only will he be concerned with making sure the facility is clean, but must also ensure that quick emergency help can be provided as such cases would require.

An effective swimming pool supervisor must have knowledge on standard safety practices with regards to the operation of the swimming pool.  This includes the use of proper swimming pool labels and the like to serve as visual warning signs to users.  All that is necessary to make the pool a safe and hazard free place should be done.

The knowledge of a swimming pool supervisor also involves being very familiar with health practices as proper sanitation and treatment of swimming pool water – to ensure clean, clear and disinfected water. That is why familiarity with swimming pool components, equipment and materials used for swimming pool maintenance is a must.  He must have sound knowledge in treatment procedures and possible options on the way to go about it.

A swimming pool supervisor would definitely not want the users to get sick or acquire an illness because of the swimming pool water being unclean.  He will be answerable to such cases and will be made accountable.  It is his job to keep the swimming pool at good operating condition at all times.

He must also be able to establish pool policies and guidelines. A swimming pool supervisor sets the schedules for pool use.  This will ensure a centralized means of orderly use of the facility.

The work of a swimming pool supervisor is indeed important and critical so that when people go on swimming, they know that everything is in order and that the pool they are at is safe.  People’s health and safety is affected by how the pool is maintained and operated. And having a swimming pool supervisor that is able to function effectively will give the users that peace of mind.   The responsibility and the job of pool supervisors are no joke – and only those qualified should hold such critical position.
