The Wildkit Swimming Organization

Dobbie Burton, former coach in the Evanston Township High School (ETHS) in Illinois, formed the Wildkit Swimming Organization or WSO in 1967 to train and prepare young swimmers for the school’s swim team. The Wildkit Swimming Organization was also a swim club that held swimming practices designed to keep the student swimmers in their best shape. Since its formation, the Wildkit Swimming Organization has seen incredible grown. It is now one of the most successful competitive swim teams with talented swimmers from various backgrounds. The Wildkit Swimming Organization participates at several national swimming competitions and competes at the North Shore Swimming Conference.

The Wildkit Swimming Organization takes pride in their tradition of excellence. Many of their members have received state and national recognition, competing at the Illinois State Championships as well as the Junior and Senior National Championships. The Wildkit Swimming Organization ranked number 1 overall at the 2001 Illinois Senior Championships. The boys division ranked first in and the girls division ranked in 2003.

The following year in 2004, the Wildkit Swimming Organization ranked third overall.

The ETHS boys’ swim team is entirely composed of WSO members. They won the 2001 National Championship. Within five years in 2005, the team took home their second state title.

One of the goals of the Wildkit Swimming Organization is to teach its young swimmers not only the fundamentals of swimming as a competitive sport but also to help them refine their stroke techniques and improve their endurance. The Wildkit Swimming Organization is a swim team that offers several levels where a swimmer can compete. They encourage all members to participate in swim meets, which provide an enjoyable, exciting and challenging experience.
